An amphitheater I designed for the 2014 Kinetika competition in New Plymouth. The sound-shell is inspired by the dorsal fin of the endangered Maui dolphin found on the west coast. The shelter of the amphitheater is retractable through a pulley system, during clear nights the cover can be drawn open allowing for a more exposed atmosphere. During windy or wet conditions the cover can be drawn closed. I was a finalist in the ‘great ideas’ category in the competition.
